Agroforestry
Agroforestry is a kind of agriculture that incorporates trees. The trees can be combined with crops or livestock. These systems are intended to protect soils, livestock and crops, increase productivity and boost biodiversity. They may also have a positive effect on the environment e.g. through carbon sequestration or reduced need for chemical inputs.
It is a fast developing area of interest and frequently involves fruit trees. The emerging Environmental Land Management Schemes (ELMS) has a new set of options based on agroforestry, so we have listed some examples here.
