Local Orchard Groups

Local Orchard Groups are the frontline in traditional orchard conservation. Springing up all over the country from the 1990s onwards, they bring people together to celebrate, conserve and revive orchards in their locality. They are a source of local expertise and guidance, and often run courses and workshops on a variety of subjects.

From 2002 to 2010 the National Orchard Forum (NOF) existed as a national umbrella organisation for Local Orchard Groups. They provided a gazeteer of local groups as well as advice and guidance in setting up new groups. NOF's bi-annual newsletter pulled together news from all over the country, enabling different groups to share their experiences and exchange information.

The National Orchard Forum has now stepped down, but with their permission the gazetteer of local groups resides here. Simply browse the groups by region using the lefthand menu. We hope that the information provided by each group will facilitate networking and continued exchanges between different groups. We invite other local orchard groups not yet listed to contact us if you would like to add your group's details. NOF have made their newletter archive available here too. Please take a look - they contain many useful articles and references.
